News Index PHIL SHAW’S ROLLER SKI ADVENTURES 18 June 2009 Phil Shaw roller skis up Baldwin Street ( the steepest auto hill in the World), Dunedin, New Zealand.
V2’s relationship with Phil began when he phoned us in 2002. Phil is one of Canada's best X-C ski racers.
Phil had decided to roller ski from Newfoundland to Vancouver, B.C. Phil was crossing Canada with a message
for tobacco awareness and a healthier lifestyle.
Phil called us from Nova Scotia to let us know that he needed V2 roller skis. He said he would never be
able to safely cross Canada on his sponsors European skis. He said the skis were rough on the poor pavement
and were dangerous on the steep down hills. He wanted a pair V2 Aero 150S with Speed Reducers
for skating and a pair of V2-910 with speed reducers for classic skiing. A ski shop in Canada helped him
obtain the skis.
Phil skied to Vancouver without getting a single flat on his Aero’s. He was so impressed he used the same
skis in 2003, when he roller skied Scotland, England and Ireland, again promoting a healthier lifestyle.
In 2004, using the original skis, he roller skied thousands of kilometers in New Zealand, Tasmania and
Australia.
Phil began his next roller ski adventure on a pair of V2 Aero’s from Palermo, Italy in March of 2005 and he
reached Norway in August. All together, Phil skied over 12,000 kilometers on his V2 roller skis.
